In my work as an At-Large Councilor for the city of Duluth, I strive to be an advocate and work for healthcare, housing, and equity for all. I fully support the LGBTQIA community. Celebrating One Year on the City Council!

June 24, 2021

It was a year ago today that I took the oath to be a City Councilor. For 365 days, I have worked hard to listen, learn and lead. I have worked on issues to create job growth, pandemic relief, broadband access, housing, and childcare. I have enjoyed serving in this capacity, and I can’t wait to continue serving in this role. I can’t get there without your help. Early voting starts tomorrow in City Hall.

The primary is on August 10. I’m asking for your vote and support to keep this seat, and keep working on important issues together.

Goodbyes and Hellos at Glensheen

June 2, 2021

One of the great parts of my work as City Councilor is serving on the Glensheen Advisory Board as the City Liaison. Today, I attended the bittersweet going away party for Dan Hartman, the incredibly talented Executive Director of Glensheen. And I am very excited about Dan’s new role as Executive Director of the DECC. The city will continue to benefit from his great knowledge and enthusiasm for all things Duluth.

As an added benefit, I was able to catch up with Emily Ford (Glensheen's head gardener!) and her historic adventure on the Ice Age Trail this winter.

I had the great opportunity to spend time with Tom O’Rourke today and learn so much more about Hartley Nature Center.  Their mission is to “inspire lifelong connections to nature through education, play and exploration.”

Women Winning Announces April Endorsements

Women Winning has announced their April Endorsements and I am proud to have been selected.

“We need our best advocates walking the halls of power at every level — from the U.S. Capitol to City Hall. Local and municipal elected officials make decisions that impact our families and communities every day, including on reproductive rights issues and much more, and pro-choice women’s voices must be represented,” said Meggie Wittorf, Women Winning President. “Women Winning is proud to launch our 2021 endorsement program with the endorsement of seven impressive, determined pro-choice women running for Minneapolis and Duluth city council. These leaders are stepping up to serve their communities, and we stand shoulder to shoulder with them on the path toward a government that better reflects the people it serves.”

Visiting Vision Northland

I recently had the chance to tour Vision Northland and see how this amazing project is coming along, and how it will impact and improve healthcare delivery for our community and all of Minnesota.

"The $900 million project, called Vision Northland, will match Essentia's facilities  with how medicine is practiced in the 21st century and bring the highest quality care to patients."

Return of the Swans

It was fun to be included in a recent FOX 21 news segment about the return of migrating pelicans to the St. Louis River. While bird watching spots can be closely guarded secrets, it's equally important that we promote the beauty that is Duluth, and protect the wildlife habitats that support bird migration across the Northland.
